Information
for groups
Group checks are disbursed monthly via US mail or at regular
board
meetings only (the third Tuesday of each month). Currently, almost all
groups have their monthly checks from Galano mailed directly to their
Treasurer's home or business. It works great and we would like to see
as
many of the groups as possible on this program. If you would like to
participate, please give the Treasurer a minimum of six months' worth of self
addressed stamped envelopes. Please be aware that if you desire to continue to receive your
check at the clubhouse, those checks will only be delivered in person
on
the day of the monthly Board meeting.
We like to
stay current with our group contacts. Please drop a note in
the safe from your group designating whom Galano should contact, if
necessary. Please include: name, address, phone number, e-mail address
and group position (GSR, Treasurer, etc). Thanks !!!!!
Meetings
In accordance with the guidelines set by Alcoholics Anonymous
on clubhouses, (see
the AA Guidelines), group meetings are not affiliated with the Galano
Club except as tenants. The Galano Club does not subsidize the rent of
any group that meets at the club. We do not wish to interfere with the
7th Tradition of AA, which states that every group should be self-supporting,
declining outside contributions. No endorsement exists, and none should
be implied nor inferred from the rental of the facilities.
In keeping
with AA guidelines for clubs. Groups that sponsor meetings at Galano are
not affiliated with the clubhouse except as tenants. Membership in The
Galano Club is independent of membership in any of the various groups
that use the club's facilities. If you are interested in starting a new
12-step meeting at the club, please see below. If you are interested in
becoming a member of the club, see membership.
How
To Start A Meeting at The Galano Club
A group representative attends a Galano Board meeting and requests time
and meeting space. The Galano Board meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday
of the month at 6:30 PM and all are welcome to attend. It is expected
that you will have a pre-determined time and room in mind that is not
in conflict with the present master schedule.
The representative will be asked their full name for the minutes and
name and purpose of the group. There is a 30-day waiting period before
the Board votes on your request. You (or a representative) must be present
for that vote to occur. No meetings may occur until the waiting period
and favorable vote has occurred.
Rent
Each group passes the basket at each meeting. All monies collected
are put into a provided “meeting envelope” and deposited after each
meeting. A portion of the donations received by all groups meeting at the
clubhouse will go into the treasury of the club. This is the rent each
group pays for meeting space. A 25% portion is returned to each group. The
Galano Club covers all required expenses for the operation of the
facility. This includes but is not limited to payment of utilities,
insurance, property maintenance, cleaning services, supplies, schedules,
etc.
